The purpose of this assignment was to learn about audio at a high level using the MIDI format.

The description and my solution of the High-Level Audio -assignment can be viewed at the bottom of this page.

What is MIDI?

The MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface and is a format for sending music information between electronic music devices like synthesizers and PC sound cards.

The MIDI format is very flexible and can be used for everything from very simple to professional music making.

MIDI files do not contain sampled sound, but a set of digital instructions (notes) that can be interpreted by a PC's sound card.

The downside of MIDI is that it doesn't record sounds, only notes.

However, since file sizes are very small, MIDI files can be useful on the Web. How it will sound to the clients downloading files depends much on the sound card in their PC's.
